                                                               Kindree Activities

  1. Activities I am involved in…

Milk Monitors, Choir, Quidditch, Fitness Friends, Recycling, Reading Buddies, Instruments, Library Leaders and Ambassadors.

  1. I am most proud of my…

Language Tasks, like my “Wicked Writing”, my “Book of Awesome”, my “4-voice Booklet”, etc. because I put in a lot of effort to make my writing creative ad interesting.

  1. Something I’d like to see happen this year is…

to have more assignments that are fun and educational, like the pool noodle skit. I would like this because then we would have learn a fair amount of different subjects and enjoy doing it.

4.Changes I’d like to see happen at Kindree are…

To begin teaching simple computer coding and programming using tools like ‘Scratch’ and allowing grade five’s to do things alone rather than combing it with another grade.  But, the biggest change of all I’d like would be better direction of traffic on school premises during the winter because I have often been caught up in the long line of cars, and on top of that, people cut the line causing it to halt making me receive a late slip.

This is my Inquiry Project. It was an assignment where we had to come up with a question and get answers through many different sources. Hope you enjoy it!!

Ridhi’s data collection

What is my study trying to show?

My study will show which group is more passionate and looks forward to school. I can draw this from my question because if one group has more people admitting they want to extend the school’s break time, it shows they prefer to stay at home.

What is my hypothesis?

My hypothesis is that the younger children would prefer to come to school, or just extend the vacations by a few days. I think they would have these answers because they have recently started school and probably don’t have many problems yet. They must be just getting used to the fellow students and teachers, so they have a positive attitude as they might make new friends.

The elder children may give the opposite answer because they might be having problems with their peers. They may also feel that more time should be given so that they will be able to finish homework.

My question is:

Which vacation do you think should be extended?

The options will be:

Summer Vacation by a few days

Summer Vacation by a few weeks

Winter Break by a few days

Winter Break by a few weeks

March Break by a few days

March Break by a few weeks

Weekends by a few days

No vacation should be extended

Which 2 groups am I comparing?

I will be asking first grade girls and fifth grade girls because I think it will be interesting to compare the 2 age groups sets of data. I will be asking 23 students of each group.

How will I collect data?

I will ask the students by taking them out separately because then there is a larger chance that they won’t feel pressurized and give a more honest response. In the graph, the asked persons will be classified as anonymous.

Here is my graph:

graph

My conclusion

In the end the larger percentage of students who would prefer school vacations to be extended are grade 5 girls. I think this happened because of the reasons stated in my hypothesis.

What I would do differently:

  • Make my question a bit easier to understand for the younger children.

  • Take the student into a more quieter area with no people so I will be able to get a very honest answer.

  • Explain beforehand to the entire class that I will only be asking questions to girls.

  • Set up times with the teachers so that they know I am coming.

  1. I didn’t really enjoy Universal Studios in Orlando when I went there. Probably because I was very young then. Also because there weren’t many rides of my interests there. Now, there are more rides. Hope you enjoy it!

  2. I hope I do too, A Shah!
Sorry, that it wasn’t exactly a memorable trip for you! I hope that if you get a chance to visit again, you will have fun!☺
